One of the things I learnt early on in my teaching career was creating an atmosphere of inspiration and success. An image does not just appear in front of your lens and you just press the shutter button and there it is. Neither is it luck or pure chance. The perfect image starts long before your press the shutter. It starts when far away from the scene you are about to photograph. The point and shoot generation creates a problem when attempting to shoot great images. If you are one of these you are already at a disadvantage when trying to take a great photo. Finding the nearest viewpoint and pushing the shutter button will hardly ever result in a great image.
